In ‘Childhood Landscapes’, I returned to my childhood house. Mainly it had remained untouched with stowed away objects in the basement and the attic. The various things from the 70s onwards were in a state of decomposition. The plastic cracked due to its own rigidity. Smells, shapes, and specific objects inspired me to create a new series of pictures. All the photos are shot in the outhouse where I used to live with my family when I was a kid. It is an attempt to reconstruct memories, but it is also an attempt to approach time and decay.
Is it then sorrowful or perhaps instead a liberation, this memory? A fluffy thing, much like the contents of a can of shaving foam that has been forgotten in here, leaving behind rusty rings on the tabletop. When I press down on the nozzle the smell of chemical summers and the 1970s is released.
